Special Issue on Languages Without Limits: Translanguaging for Curriculum Transformation in the Global South

Summary

In response to the urgent and critical need for systemic curriculum reform, this special issue delves into translanguaging’s role as a catalyst for educational transformation within the Global South. It addresses the observed gap in scholarship, where the potential for translanguaging to influence national curricula and contribute to systemic change remains underexplored. By gathering international insights, this issue aims to illuminate how translanguaging can transcend traditional educational structures, moving from marginalization towards empowerment and sustainable development. It seeks to unite theoretical advancements with actionable strategies, offering a comprehensive view on translanguaging’s implications for policy, practice, and broad-scale educational reform.

Themes

Papers that address any or combination of the following sub-themes are particularly welcome:

  • Future of Education with Translanguaging

Call for Papers

We invite scholars, educators, policymakers, and practitioners to submit abstracts for original research articles, case studies, review essays, and reflective pieces addressing the outlined themes. Abstracts should critically engage with translanguaging’s concept, its practical implementations, and its educational impact, particularly within the Global South context.

Submission Guidelines:
Abstract limit: 200 words
Deadline for abstract submission: 31st May 2024

Submission of 1st Draft: 31 August 2024
Review and Feedback to Authors: 15th November 2024
Final Submission: 28th February 2025
